Police and emergency services responded to a series of hazards, traffic crashes, theft and disorder matters across Newport, Bayview and Mona Vale between 7 and 12 February, according to reports received by authorities.
Newport
Hazard
At approximately 7:45pm on Saturday 7 February, crews from Fire and Rescue NSW Mona Vale Station attended Prince Alfred Parade after a tree fell onto a residential property. A large branch had broken through the roof above a bedroom. No injuries were reported. The tree was too large to remove, and residents were assisted to retrieve essential belongings before leaving the home.
At about 10:45pm on Tuesday 10 February, NSW Police were called to Grandview Drive following reports of a tree fallen across the roadway.
Theft
At approximately 8:45pm on Wednesday 11 February, police responded to reports of an intruder at Sydney Water facilities on Wollombi Road.
Beach Safety
Just after midday on Thursday 12 February, lifeguards from Northern Beaches Council closed Bungan Beach after a dolphin carcass washed ashore. The carcass had been partially eaten, and three bull sharks were spotted offshore, reportedly attracted by it. The beach was closed as a precaution.
Bayview
Traffic
Just after 9:15am on Monday 9 February, police and firefighters from Mona Vale Station attended a two-vehicle collision on Pittwater Road. Firefighters treated a large oil spill using absorbent material while police managed traffic. Both vehicles were towed.
Hazard
At approximately 6:15pm on Tuesday 10 February, police and firefighters responded to Pittwater Road after a tree fell across powerlines. Several residents were unable to leave their properties until repairs could be carried out.
Mona Vale
Disorder
Just before 3:00am on Sunday 8 February, police received a report of property vandalised at Darley Street.
Shortly after midday on Monday 9 February, police were notified of activity involving drugs at Waratah Street.
At approximately 4:30pm on Thursday 12 February, police received reports of youths damaging property at Park Street.
Traffic
At around 6:15pm on Monday 9 February, emergency services responded to a two-car crash on Barrenjoey Road near Golf Avenue. No injuries were reported. Firefighters cleared debris and both vehicles were towed.
Fire Response
Shortly before 1:00pm on Tuesday 10 February, firefighters attended a fire alarm activation at Mona Vale Hospital on Coronation Street. The alarm was determined to have been triggered accidentally.
Theft
At about 12:45pm on Thursday 12 February, property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Surfview Road.
